文法摘要

•
序數（ordinal numbers）用來表達「第幾個」的順序，常作形容詞放在名詞前，如 the first day
•
基本拼寫：多數在數字後加 -th；不規則：1→first(1st), 2→second(2nd), 3→third(3rd)
•
拼寫變化：five→fifth, nine→ninth, twelve→twelfth, twenty→twentieth（y→ieth）
•
特指常加 the：on the third floor, the 21st century；與所有格時不加 the：my first bike
•
日期常見：May 1st / the first of May；複合序數僅最後一個詞變序數並加連字號：twenty-first

有所有格時通常不加 the
範例：

用於樓層、頁數等固定搭配
範例：

（複合序數）十位基數 + 連字號 + 個位序數
僅最後一個詞變序數並加連字號（如 twenty-first, thirty-second）
範例：
It’s my twenty-first birthday.
今天是我二十一歲生日。

常見錯誤

表示特定樓層時，序數前需加 the。例外：有所有格時（如 my first）不用 the。

以 1/2/3 結尾的數字用 st/nd/rd，其餘用 th：21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th。
