文法
文法摘要
•
although 引導讓步從句，表示「雖然…（但是）…」，用來表達對比
•
位置可在句首或句中：句首從句後要加逗號，句中前也加逗號
•
although 後面一定接「主詞＋動詞」的子句，不能直接接名詞片語
•
不能和 but/yet 連用：用 although 就不要再加 but/yet
•
和 though、even though、despite/in spite of 意義相近，但用法與語氣不同
基本公式
Although + 主詞 + 動詞（可帶受詞/補語）, 主詞 + 動詞（可帶受詞/補語/副詞）
從句在前要加逗號；主句不需再加 but。
範例：

雖然在下雨，我們還是打了籃球。
主詞 + 動詞（可帶受詞/補語/副詞）, although + 主詞 + 動詞（可帶受詞/補語）
句中用法語氣較輕，前面主句與 although 子句之間加逗號。

although 是從屬連接詞，不能和對等連接詞 but/yet 併用；二擇一。

although 後面要接「主詞＋動詞」子句；若要接名詞片語，改用 despite/in spite of。

although 子句不能單獨成句，必須有主句搭配。

although 不能放在句尾單獨使用；句尾可用 though（較口語）。
相似文法比較
vs. though
語氣較口語，結構與 although 類似，但可放句尾作副詞；although 不能句尾。

雖然很冷，我們還是去游泳。
對比文法（though）
It was cold. We went swimming, though.
很冷。我們還是去游泳了。
vs. even though
比 although 語氣更強，表示事實上的強烈對比；結構相同。

Although he is busy, he calls his mom.
雖然他很忙，他還是會打給媽媽。
對比文法（even though）
Even though he is busy, he calls his mom.
即使他非常忙，他仍然會打給媽媽。
vs. despite / in spite of
後接名詞或動名詞，不能接完整子句；要接子句可用 despite the fact that + 子句。

Although it was raining, we kept playing.
雖然在下雨，我們繼續玩。
對比文法（despite / in spite of）
Despite the rain, we kept playing.
儘管下雨，我們繼續玩。
vs. but / yet
對等連接詞，連接兩個獨立子句；不可和 although 併用在同一對比結構中。
